Summary
I think someone had a great idea to simplify recording outdated media products simply to a cd. Why they used such mediocore components to produce such a low quality audio product is beyond...
Strength
nice looking furniture
Weakness
Please- what would it have taken to have an average or better sounding audio device?
My wife was so excited to order me this special gift for Christmas, I feel horrible to return it. Like other reviewers here, I must agree...this unit is pure junk in audio quality, although nicely packaged. Cost a hefty $400 plus shipping and it sounds...
I have had mine since Dec.07.Before buying it,I tried it in the store, because I had read a few bad reports.I liked it in the store. The manager helped me with it,and he even commented on how great it sounded. Old 78's sound great,so do cd's and...

Summary
Received as a gift from my brother. Very excited. Good way to transfer that old vinyl to CD. Unfortunately, the electronics are a piece of crap!! Radio tuner barely works. CD function will not work at all!!! Open/close button does absolutely NOTHING!!!...
Strength
Makes an attractive paper weight!
Weakness
The most important parts: the electronic components??!!
No one else has mentioned this so I'll throw it out there in case it's relevant to someone. This unit records your vinyl/tapes to CD, but it records an entire side as one track. If you expect to put this CD in your computer and rip to another file...
Strength
Works exactly as advertised.
Weakness
Beware all the diatribe posted by folks who don't know their ear from their elbow.
I had high hopes for this product. I have hundreds of albums I'd like to convert to CD. The Crosley songwriter is easy to use but sadly, the sound quality is atrocious. I too am returning mine. I can't believe they even bothered to produce this item...
It took about 24 hours to determine that I had a $400.00 piece of junk on my hands. Sound quality is horrible and the turntable is no better than a 1950s "el cheapo". I am extremely disappointed with this item and am returning it for a refund...sad part...
Kind of cute was my first reaction, and the thought of reproducing the 100's of records that I own from a bygone age on CD's was the alluring feature. Actually, the recording operation was fairly uncomplicated; however, the sound quality was just awful...

Summary
I wanted to record records and cassettes to CDs. It worked okay for awhile but now the cassette player does not work at all. The sound is okay only because it was wired into my great sound system, otherwise, the sound was awful. I cannot find an...
Strength
Pretty cabinet. Good idea.
Weakness
Amazingly cheap components. Cassette player no longer works at all after short while.
Overall, I am pleased with the Crosley Songwriter. It's easy to use and has a handsome, retro design. The stereo sound quality is good on all the components except for the turntable. LPs sound as though they are being played on a child's record player...
Strength
Easy to use. Makes CDs quickly and allows you to choose which tracks to record.
