Summary

I have a Sony DCR-TRV900 camcorder, that I'm using on a biography project. I consider myself an amateur videographer. The camcorder is positioned on a tripod about 5 feet or so back from the people. The built-in microphone picks up a lot of room noise in...

Strength

Simple operation, standard battery, inexpensive, obvious sound improvement, works with GarageBand on Macintosh.

Weakness

Battery screwcap feels slightly odd.

Summary

Strength

Excellent sound, reliable.

Weakness

Non-standard holder, gold plug.

Bottom Line

I highly recommend the Sony ECMMS907. It faithfully records live sounds with minimal distortions and has useful settings. It's a great deal for the price.

Strength

Inexpensive. Battery lasts forever. Relatively good sound for the price. Simple to set up.

Weakness

Limited frequency response and sound pressure level. Stereo image isn't great.
